Northern Peninsula District Cross Country

On Thursday, 10th of May the Northern Peninsula District Cross Country competition was held at Ballam Park. Luckily the conditions were better than expected and the rain and hail predicted didn’t eventuate. 60 Patterson River Secondary students rugged up and waited patiently to compete in their event. When it was time to compete, all students ran really well and participated to the best of their ability. I was extremely proud to see that all students modelled excellent sportsmanship and represented our College with respect and excellent behaviour.

Congratulations to the following students who have progressed to the Southern Metropolitan Secondary Regional Finals to be held on Monday, 18th of June:

Southern Metropolitan Secondary Swimming Regional Finals

On Wednesday 28th March, it was my absolute pleasure to take 6 Patterson River Students to the Southern Metropolitan Swimming Championships held at MSAC.

Our swimmers were;

Harrison Hart – Yr 7; 50mt Breaststroke, 50mt Freestyle relay

Olivia Staines – Yr 7; 50mt Breaststroke

Sam Ridgeway – Yr 9; 50mt Freestyle Relay

Felicity Weston – Yr 12; 50mt Breaststroke, 50mt Freestyle, 50mt Backstroke

Cooper Howie Finch -  Yr 12; 100mt Freestyle, 50mt Freestyle relay

Lachlan Wild – Yr 12; 50mt Breaststroke, 50mt Freestyle relay

These students represented the college with pride and it was very pleasing to see that they all gave 100% to their individual races.  Their own individual preparation before each of their events was wonderful, showing that they were prepared to do their best. Their support and encouragement of each other during the day was also extremely pleasing.

All the athletes had amazing swims on the day and Harrison Hart won his event, 12-13 year old, 50mt Breaststroke in a time of 43:08 which saw him progress into the State Finals.

Harrison has since swam this event where he finished 8th in the state.

Congratulations to all the athletes.  You made the College proud.  Stay Sporty.

Athletics Carnival

On Thursday 19th April, our annual House Athletics Day was held at Ballam Park. The  weather was on our on our side, with a bright blue sky and perfect warm conditions for the athletes. There was over 300 individual participants on the day competing in over 150 events.

However there could only be 1 winner, this year the winning house was Aston, in 2nd place Derrimut, followed by Freeman and finally Monash. A big thank you must go to all of the students for their participation and to the staff for their efforts to ensure that the day ran smoothly.
