IDAHOBIT 2018

International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia, Intersexism and Transphobia.

Students from the RESPECT group at Patterson River Secondary College were invited to attend the Frankston City Council Rainbow flag raising event on Thursday 17th May at Frankston Civic Centre.

On Tuesday 22nd May the RESPECT group students invited fellow students and staff to a morning tea to support and raise awareness of IDAHOBIT Day. Members of the group welcomed everyone to their event and explained what IDAHOBIT Day stands for and why it’s so important to the Group.

We are very fortunate to be supported by Frankston Youth Services and especially Kellie & Jane for their ongoing attendance to our weekly meetings.

“I loved how many people came and how much everyone enjoyed it” – Amelia Y7

“It makes me so happy that so many people came to support the community….. I feel accepted” – Georgia Y12

“It is a day that we can be ourselves and it was great to see the amount of support we have" – Kim Y9

“It was great to see how many people showed up.. It was incredible to see all the support in our school community” -  Alex Y10

The RESPECT group would also like to say a huge ‘Thank You’ to the staff from Frankston Youth Services that regularly attend our meetings and support our events. Kellie & Jane are such wonderful people to work with here at school and outside of school they offer great support to many of Patterson River Secondary College students. Thank you also to Cal who attended our event at school and continues to support and help our students within the community.
