DES MCKENZIE AWARD:
Congratulations to GIACOMO F. on being awarded the very prestigious DES MCKENZIE AWARD. ACPS students and staff gave Giacomo a spontaneous standing ovation. Clearly a popular choice!
Des was our Principal for 17 years, he was an amazing man and leader of ACPS . Des brought many innovations to our school including technology, he would love our students running the bio box in the Theatre! He encouraged his staff to be facilitators of learning, letting them trust their instincts as well as valuing their skill sets. Students were taught independence and were very self motivated.
Our recipient - Giacomo is receiving this Award because of his willingness to help out, his resilience, his positive attitude to school, learning and life. Giacomo loves technology. He is an excellent role model to younger students. He loves Lego Lunch Club especially with the electronic lego equipment and is there every morning running Kilometre Club on our oval.
Giacomo is why we love teaching , he is a man of the people he continues to bring such beautiful qualities to our school, community and our lives. Giacomo is a man of the people!
We were thrilled to have Lyn Regan ( Des' partner), Tanya ( Des' daughter) and James (Des' grandson) representing the family and presenting the award. Ruby Francis our 2021 Recipient was also on hand to help present the Award.
Food Drive - Thank you from Care Net.
We were thrilled be supporting our local community with a food drive. Thank you to all our families who donated to this great cause. We had an overwhelming response. Well done ACPS.
Another huge week:
CAROLS ON THE GREEN:
We felt Carols on the Green was very successful. Brilliant sunshine and lots of fun performances. Thank you to Cam and Erica Mitchell for doing such a great job with the sound and songs up on the oval.
All our classes did a great job learning their song and dressing up in the Christmas theme.
Thanks to Jimmy and his band of helpers for their work on the sausage sizzle, to Jo and De for running the canteen and for all the families who sent in Tasty treats!
CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS OUTSIDE THE OFFICE:
Many thanks to Giacomo and his crew for setting up our Christmas decorations at the front of the office - once again they look great!
SWIMMING:
No wonder our Prep- grade 4 students are particularly exhausted!
They have all worked so hard in their 2 week swimming program.
Well done to every participant.
Thanks to our teachers and parent helpers who made the excursions a great success!
BIKE RIDE:
The sun shone for our river ride today!
Nearly 80 students and staff headed off to the Yarra river - the idea was to work as a team and we did!.
We had a great pit stop at the Playground - where Michelle PN delivered icy poles and the students all had fun playing. Then we headed back to school. Again, thank you to all our helpers who made this event happen.
Chicken care over the holidays:
We've got all the weeks covered now for the holidays! Thank you to the families who have volunteered to come in to look after the chickens over our summer holidays. Instructions will be provided and you get to keep the eggsellent eggs! It's a wonderful way for students to feel connected to the school and help the transition back to school in 2023. Please email Sarah Bailey Sarah.Bailey2@education.vic.gov.au if you can help us out.
