Grade 5/6

Change

“Change allows us to move forward in life and experience new and exciting things.”

This time of year, we start to move in different directions. With change comes a range of emotions. The Grade 6 students have been/are attending their High School orientation days. The feedback after these sessions have been that they have had a great day followed by in High School we get to do this and that. As sad as it will be to see this cohort go, we have full confidence in them that they will go on with a positive outlook and embrace the opportunities that come their way.

For our Grade 5s, they have been working their way through becoming the core leaders of ACPS for 2023. At this time of year there is change, change within the classroom, change in moving year levels, change within themselves. We are extremely proud of how our Grade 5 students have been conducting themselves over the past few weeks at our various events and within school. They are going to continue to do amazing things next year and into the future.

Here‘s a look at some students working together, including each other and communicating well.

Yarra River Bike Ride

School Bike Ride

This morning on the 9th of December the Grade 5-6 of ACPS went on a ride. Over the past couple of weeks we have been doing Bike Ed with an instructor called Steve. The 5-6 students have been doing bike and road safety. When we had finished our safety lessons we went on a Yarra River ride. We started off this morning with putting on high vis vests on and then grabbed our bikes and set off. Everyone had to go across the traffic lights in groups. We kept riding to the Warrandyte Bridgeand then went to the Warrandyte Bakery Park for a bit of a play and we also got icy poles as well.  When we were finished at the park we rode our bikes back to school. The ride was fun and the icy poles were the best.

Our River ride

By Rosalie 5/6E

This morning, Friday the 9th of December, all the Grade ⅚’s went on a bike ride along the Yarra River. We brought our bikes to school, put on our high-vis vests, and off we went. We rode to the traffic lights, and crossed over in small groups. We arrived at the river, and then the main ride began.

Whilst we stopped occasionally, we mostly were just riding. It felt like no time at all had passed when we reached the bridge, and therefore the end of the track. We stopped there for a short while, then went up to the playground. We had fun there, and then it got even better. We all got an icy-pole!

Soon after we started back. Once again, it felt like a very short trip back to the lights. We crossed over, in small groups again, then we were back at school.

It was an amazing last excursion to end the year with, and we are all so grateful to all the people who helped us go - Steve (our Bike Ed instructor), Amy and Eva Graham, Mrs Thornton, Mrs Eastwood, and Mr Jones.
