Winter has certainly arrived with a bang in the last few weeks! The cooler weather conditions have provided excellent growing conditions for broccoli, miniature cauliflower, cabbage, pak choy and silverbeet. We have an abundance of citrus in our beautiful garden now as well. We use everything in our garden and what we don’t use, we sell at market stalls which pays for more seedlings and soil for our garden beds.

Our Year 3’s have entered the garden with such excitement! They demonstrated being in wonder and awe of their surroundings and new learnings, which is fantastic. They have been eagerly walking around the garden, using their past knowledge of the garden to identify what we are growing. On the wetter days, we have been planting seeds and harvesting dry seeds and flower pellets  to be used in future projects.

Our Year 5s and 6s have been busy using their past knowledge of what is a weed and what is a seedling to weed our garden beds and plant peas and silverbeet for future menus. They have also taken the responsibility of collecting the eggs and keeping the girl's water filled and clean.

We really do thrive in a team culture, and it takes the entire Kingswood community to keep the SAKG garden going. So, thank you to everyone who helps out.

Stay warm and happy gardening Kingswood!
