Lucie Hill

Library Technician

Hello everyone,

I would like to introduce you to Virgil, my 10 week old Seeing Eye Dog puppy in training. He is a sweet natured Labrador cross Golden Retriever and has won my heart. Over the next year, Virgil will be coming into the library with me, and will gradually be introduced to the students. At the moment he is just a puppy and sleeps up to 20 hours a day.

We are teaching the students and staff that when he is wearing his Seeing Eye Dog jacket, we need to ignore him and try not to distract him.

You are welcome to pop into the library to meet him, providing he is awake and not wearing his jacket.

Our beautiful school Library is a busy place, with every grade coming in once a week for the students to borrow books for home and the classroom. We aim to keep the books up to date and exciting, with new books being purchased regularly to enhance the collection. Therefore, we are requesting some volunteers to assist with book covering. Covering can be done at any time throughout the day.

I will be conducting a training session on book covering and I assure you it is a lot easier with the heavy, good quality covering that we use.

If you are interested in learning how to cover books and can help out, please contact me by email via Compass.

Even just a half an hour here and there, would be a great help and very much appreciated.

Next term we have a Lamont Book Fair coming to Kingswood from the 6th to 10th August. Lamont Books is one of the booksellers we purchase our library books through, and they are an Australian company with very good quality books. There will be more information coming to you about the Lamont Book Fair next term.

Once again I have included some new book cover images that have been added to the library recently. Students are welcome to reserve a book if it is currently on loan.
