How time flies when you’re having fun!

Term Two is getting close to an end, particularly for me as I am going on Long Service Leave for the remaining two weeks of term and will look forward to seeing everyone again in Term Three. I am fortunate to be heading to Central Australia with my family and we’re looking forward to visiting amazing places including Uluru, Kata-Tjuta, Alice Springs and Coober Pedy. At this stage, it looks as though the Oodnadatta is closed to towing vehicles so that leg of our trip might not happen!

Reconciliation Week

This term we have been able to recognise Reconciliation Week with its theme “Be Brave. Make Change.” Our Student Representative Council organised a 'wear yellow' day to acknowledge this and classes completed curriculum based activities to learn more about First Nations people, National Sorry Day and Mabo Day. The students decided that the money raised would go to a First Nations organisation ‘Children’s Ground’. They work with children, families and communities as a support and advocate. More information can be found here: https://childrensground.org.au/

Term Two events

This term we have also enjoyed a range of excursions, camps and sporting events. Our Preps and Year 1s enjoyed the RSPCA and Gould League and the Year 2 to 4 swimming program was enjoyed by many despite the chilly temperatures! Last week I had the privilege of heading to Canberra with our Year 6 students. While I was there in the capacity of a Covid back up and didn’t get to head out to all the amazing events, I did get to witness with great pride the way our Year 6 students and staff represented our school in the wider world. They were a credit to their families, teachers and the school! Coming up, we’re looking forward to Year 5 Camp and the Year 3 excursion to Moonlit Sanctuary!
