Women In Sport

Last Monday, we were grateful to have Maddie Garrick from the Melbourne Boomers come in and talk with our Year 8 girls around women in sport and women in leadership. The girls listened to her personal story in which she discussed many things relevant to girls in the current time. It was encouraging to see our girls participating in discussion and listening intently. After Maddie spoke with the girls she ran through some basketball skills and drills with them. The Year 8 girls were a fantastic representation of our school, with many comments around how amazing and interactive they had been.

Athletic Club

The St Andrews Athletic Club is in training with enthusiastic students under the coaching of Hendrik Dreyer. Here he is taking them through a 'tempo run' session, working towards cross country and athletics season next term.

Soccer

The Year 5/6 Girls soccer team celebrating after a recent win.

The Year 7/8 Girls team won their last match 10-0 against Chairo Christian School and progress to the final series! The other team photos are from the Year 5/6 Round Robin days where the boys and girls soccer team won two out of three of their pool games and progress to the Wantirna District finals series on Friday June 15. Year 5/6 students played other sports including volley stars, netball and t-ball. The boys t-ball team also progress to their District finals series.

This term I've had some 30 Year 5 and 6 students participating in the  soccer club every Tuesday after school, working with Year 8 coaches and referees. Also on a Thursday morning at 8:15am I've had 25 committed Year 7-10 girls playing soccer in the cold and wet to improve their skills. The results of the tough early morning practices are beginning to show with much better results on the field!

Don’t forget to watch and enjoy the soccer World Cup FROM June 14 to July 15 and cheer on the Socceroos!
