Music and Eisteddfod

Congratulations to Pippa Quinn who performed in the Hamilton Eisteddfod on Tuesday in the piano section.  We understand that Pippa has been practising very hard and played beautifully on the day.  She came second in her section.  Well done Pippa!

Eisteddfod - Thursday

35 very excited students arrived at the Hamilton PAC ready to perform in the Eisteddfod. Every student looked very smart in their full winter uniform, with polished shoes and neat hair. Even the teachers looked very swish in their dresses! Mrs Huf and the teachers have has worked incredibly hard to practise their performance pieces in just a few weeks. Normally, it takes half a year to get the items ready for the Eisteddfod. We are very lucky to have Music and Mrs Huf at Cavendish Primary School. We believe that Music is an important part of our educational program and more schools are finding it difficult to find teachers with high level musical knowledge. 

In the morning program, the students sang in the Primary School Choral Championship  section. They performed 'I Like the Flowers' and "Little Eliza Jane'. The choir received an Honorable Mention in this section. The adjudicator commented ' Great enthusiasm and energy in these performances. Occasionally, the rhythm and pitch were slightly wayward but the energy and vitality of the songs was captured and conveyed.  Well done!'

In the afternoon program, the students performed in the multi-instrumental section, playing 'Count On Me'. The adjudicator commented 'Although there were occasional extra notes peppered throughout the performance, when synchronised this was a very powerful ensemble presentation. The different marimba layers complemented each other well, well done!'
