Prayer and Reflection

A Prayer for Catholic Schools’ Week

Thank you, Father, for the blessing of our Catholic schools. Help us to grow in faith, hope and love as we are taught about You, Your Church and our own salvation.

Thank you, Jesus, for the blessing of all the parishes, priests, and Catholic school stakeholders who make our College possible. We are grateful for the long tradition of committed Catholics, especially the  religious orders, who began our schools and preserved them through the years, and also for those who work for its future. Help us to follow their example of service and generosity when it is our turn to preserve the faith.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for the blessing of our parents, principal, teachers and staff. We are grateful for the grace and wisdom You give them as they teach and guide us. Help us to grow in our understanding of the world around us and grant us the strength to make right choices when the world challenges what is right and holy.

Amen.

Catholic Schools’ Week

This week we celebrate Catholic Schools’ Week. The theme for 2020 is 'Nurture Grow and Celebrate' and so in our prayer today we thank God for the blessing of Catholic schools where we and many before us and many more to come, have been spiritually and educationally nourished by Catholic Education.

Marriage and Family Week

Not only is it Catholic Schools Week next week, the Armidale Diocese will also be celebrating  Marriage and Family Week. This year’s theme is “The Family: Passing on the Faith”. Bishop Kennedy has instructed that all students in diocesan Catholic schools dedicate a lesson specifically to the Sacrament of Marriage during Marriage and Family Week. All of us are strongly encouraged to pray for all families during Marriage and Family Week, which concludes 1 August with a parish Mass and celebration.

Condolences

Our thoughts and prayers are with Holly, Thomas and Sophie Littlejohns and Jacob Bell and their families after the passing of their respective grandmothers.
