Library News

Still plenty of time to enter the draw for the $50 Collins Bookseller’s gift voucher

There is time for our students to start and/or complete the Reconnect and Reboot, “Say Goodbye my Lockdown,” Library Reading and Borrowing Challenge.

To be in the draw, students need to put their completed and stamped challenge cards in the Student Challenge Box sitting on our Library front desk by Friday 21 August, Week 5, Term 3.

Suggest a book or author?

We aim to provide great reading materials for all reading abilities and interests. One source of collection development for our library is directly from our students. We have had some great reading requests this year and we have added these to our collection. A Suggestion Box is in our library.  If students have a title or author they would like us to consider, then we encourage them to come in, fill out the request slip and place it in the Suggestion Box.

What’s new in our McCarthy Library

New fiction books including the latest in popular series and up-to-the-minute non-fiction titles are here and ready for students to borrow.

Just arrived in our fiction section are the series latest for Skullduggery Pleasant, Alex Rider, Aurora and in the Marissa Meyer's Renegades Series we have Arch Enemies 2.  There are also many other new fiction stories for all levels to enjoy.

Just arrived in non-fiction section are infographic texts such as Guide to Minecraft Dungeons, Explore Your Weird, Wild and Amazing, The Australia Survival Guide, Pandemic, How Climate, the Environment and Superbugs Increase the Risk, Weird, Wild and Amazing, Digital Photographer's Handbook, AFL, Netball, and 2040, The Handbook for Regeneration.

Come in to the library, check the front book displays, borrow and read something new.

Researching with Oliver

Our online Library is 24x7.  When students are conducting research for an assignment, their first place to look is in our Library.  Students can search our Library online via the McCarthy Learning Homepage (Library-Oliver) from home, in the classroom or directly from the Library’s two online catalogues.

Here is a short instructional clip for our students to get started with research. In less than 90 seconds this clip will explain how to conduct library research. Watching this clip can save the user hours of time searching for resources.
