Principal's Report

A theme that readily comes to mind when I consider much of what has been happening at Wee Waa High School this year is ‘leadership’.

Whether it be our 10 young Aboriginal students who voluntarily stepped forth to learn their Acknowledgement to Country so that they can lead in our community and at school to our students who will soon perform at the eisteddfod and the terrific effort of our Show team who competed at the Sydney Royal Easter Show.  Then there is N’Kayla Gaydon who has just finished two leadership programs including the Young Endeavour and Emily Shearin who has recently been accepted into the inaugural Country to Canberra mentoring program.  I felt a great deal of pride to join with so many of our students who of their of free volition marched in the this year's ANZAC Day parade.

I am proud of the willingness of so many of our students to step forward and lead, each in their own unique way.  I am also proud of our staff who devote their personal time to assist and encourage our wonderful young students in their endeavours.

I’d like to acknowledge our 2019 Student Representative Councillors who were recently elected.  They include;

Year 12 Captains - Emily Shearin and Harry Pattison

Year 12 Vice Captains - Caitlyn Galagher and Sam Galagher

Year 12 - Cait Downes and Noah Platt

Year 11 - Mackenzie Weaver and Harry Kinstler

Year 10 - Bryony Allen and Tristan Biles

Year 9 - Zoey Kiem and Hayden Shearin

Year 8 -Tori Stewart and Dom Cruickshank

Year 7 - Miranda Davis and Charlie Hamilton

Under the guidance of Ms Stephenie Blewitt, the SRC has a busy year planned and we look forward to sharing news of their achievements during the year.

NAPLAN testing has just been completed and half yearly exams commence next week.

School uniform is normally an area where Wee Waa High excels, however recently some students have been taking a more relaxed approach in their interpretation of it.  Full details of our uniform a policy and what comprises of our uniform is detailed later in this newsletter.  We ask that students ensure they come to school in full school uniform. If you have any queries or need assistance with purchasing items of uniform, please speak with our front office staff.

Your sincerely,

Annabel Doust
