TERM 3

The last two weeks have flown by.  There are some highlight pages in this fortnight's newsletter for you to check out:

  • The Whole School Athletics Day at Proclamation Park was a huge success with all students across the school participating in a wide range of activities.  Check out the page in this newsletter for results and a huge list of thank yous to our parent community for helping to make this happen.
  • The Tree Planting session on National Tree Day was very busy with many hands making like work of the 200 plants donated by Maroondah City Council.
  • Little Things With Wings is the Global Ambassador Project title where six of our Grade 5 students are working to increase habitat for little things with wings in our environment.  They have shared with you all of their work so far on their own page in this newsletter
  • Our Encounter students and their buddies have been very busy over the last fortnight with a visit to Healesville Sanctuary and a visit to the kitchen garden and a cooking session.

Dragon boat racing - tomorrow

All day tomorrow the whole school will be working in their Kooramook groups to first learn about, design, build and then race a dragon boat.  We are inviting all of our families to join in the fun be coming down to the school at about 2:00 to watch the racing action.  Thank you to Adam and Nerissa for bringing in so many boxes to help with the construction! Thank you also to Ros Hill for bringing in the head and tail of a real dragon boat for us all to admire and get inspiration!

Dance Around the World Dance-a-thon

Next Friday 18 August our students will be dancing the afternoon away with dances from across the world.  Each class will demonstrate a dance and then everyone will join in, dancing continuously for an hour or more. All students have brought a fundraising sheet home for them to collect donations and sponsorship to dance non-stop.  All monies raised will go to the new playground.

Bunnings BBQ on Saturday

Thank you to all the families who have added their name to the roster for the BBQ at Ringwood Bunnings on Saturday.  Don't forget to pop along and buy a sausage for breakfast, morning tea or lunch!  There are still some spaces available on the roster if you have time on Saturday to help out, give Kelli a call at the office.
