From the Head of Year Nine
From 28 November to 3 December a small group of Year Nine students will have the opportunity to attend the St George's College Camp. This annual camp provides students with a unique opportunity to experience what it’s like to live on UWA Campus at a College. This camp will follow a selection process that students will be briefed on next week at school by Mr McLean. Applications will then be due by the end of Week One, Term Four.
If you have any questions please feel free to contact Mr McLean on 9844 0418 or bryce.mclean@gsg.wa.edu.au
Mr Bryce McLean | Head of Year Nine
Hospitality
In Year Nine this week we focussed on carbohydrates as one of the six nutrients. Simple carbohydrates provide energy, while complex carbohydrates provide dietary fibre, which is important for our digestive health and regular bowel movements, and helps you feel fuller for longer. Students made a funky apple pie, illustrating the use of both types of carbohydrates, that were plated and garnished creatively. A nacho bowl using ingredients high in fibre was produced that the students ate for lunch.
