From the Head of the Arts

Our Senior School Arts Exhibition, 'Creative Connections' was held on Sunday afternoon in the Annette Knight Centre. It was a wonderful celebration of the creativity of our Years Ten, Eleven and Twelve students. A special congratulations to Erin Bell, whose beautiful digital print, Terra Nullius, was chosen to be on the poster of the Arts Exhibition catalogue and the Kingfisher Concert programme.

The Media students showed their films that ranged from documentaries on serious themes to arthouse films and even horror game shows; not for the faint hearted. Visual Arts students’ work was on display in the Music Foyer and it is always an inspiring experience to see their work in a new context and view the array of creative expression. Drama students performed August: Osage County to a packed audience in the Drama Hall.

Good luck to all the Year Twelves now either sending their work to Perth for assessment or travelling to perform! The creative process in any of its forms is challenging; from the initial ideas process to seeing the development through and having the confidence to finally show viewers and audiences. These students deserve to feel proud of their achievements.

The annual Kingfisher Concert was held on Tuesday night to a full crowd at the Albany Entertainment Centre. There were dynamic performances from our littlest students to our oldest; a huge range of musical ensembles that demonstrated a vast range of talent and musical ability from 13th Century songs sung by the Senior Vocal Ensemble in Latin, to guitar ensembles playing South American festival music to the Pipe Band and their effervescent jigs.
