SistaWorks special deal on reusable masks for MGC students.

Parents would be aware that we are trying to encourage the MGC community to reduce waste as much as possible. This means looking at every small choice we make and if possible, swapping to reusable and more sustainable options. Over time, small changes have a BIG impact. We are seeing a great many of our students using single use face masks and many of these become litter in our school yard. This is terrible for our school and the Yarra River that we overlook. Please help us to stop this occurrence. 

Single use masks are made from single use plastic and we all know what a terrible problem this is for our planet. Over 1.5 billion single use masks entered the ocean in 2020 alone! (Source OceansAsia - https://oceansasia.org/).

MGC students can now buy a beautiful reusable face mask from our friends at SistaWorks for the discounted price of $10! These usually retail for $14 but they are doing a special deal for our students. Their store is located at 296 Bridge Road, Richmond.  Students simply need to wear their school uniform or show their student ID to get the discount. They could buy one for you too! By purchasing one of these masks, you are not only helping to reduce single use plastic waste, but you are also helping to provide employment for migrant and refugee women and supporting small and local businesses. The masks are made from Australian fabrics.
