Holiday Reading

Congratulations on making it to the end of Term 2. It's now time for a well-earned break, with maybe a book or two to keep you company on these cold winter days. My cat loves the holidays as he gets to sit on a person for long stretches while I work through my TBR pile.

Email photos of your reading piles and buddies to library@wantirnacollege.vic.edu.au and we'll publish them next term. Best wishes for the break, and we look forward to seeing everyone in July.

When the World was Ours by Liz Kessler - Vienna 1936. Three young friends spend a perfect day together, unaware that around them Europe is descending into a growing darkness and that events will soon mean that they are ripped apart from each other as their lives take very different directions

Gabrielle rates it 4 stars : This was an amazing war story. It is quite graphic and intense in the way that it really shows what the war was like without modifying it to be more friendly. It is really beautiful and heart-wrenching.

Cells at Work! Manga series - Strep throat! Hay fever! Influenza! The world is a dangerous place for a red blood cell just trying to get her deliveries finished. Fortunately, she's not alone, she's got a whole human body's worth of cells ready to help out! The mysterious white blood cell, the buff and brash killer T cell, the nerdy neuron, even the cute little platelets - everyone's got to come together if they want to keep you healthy!

Sophie gives it 5 stars : 'Cells at work! 01' Is an incredible introduction to the human body and an amazing series. This manga is filled to the brim with loveable characters, medical facts and humour that will put a smile on your face. If you are looking for your next manga to read, I highly suggest you read 'Cells at work! 01.
