It was a terrific team effort from Mount Carmel at the SSATIS Athletics Carnival on Tuesday. The team won 1st place in the Girls Junior Shield of 11 schools. This was a great reward for their hard work and commitment to early morning training. There were exceptional individual performances, and competitors in every event doing their best. Many students stepped up in events they weren’t expecting to. Congratulations to all team members and their wonderful coaches.
The team now turns its attention to the SATIS (State) Carnival on Saturday 17 September held in Launceston.

Schools Equestrian Winner
Eva Sommerville (Year 8) had a very successful day representing Mount Carmel at the Inter Schools Equestrian event held on Sunday 4 September.
Eva competed on her horse Tryst of Fate, and in a team with riders from Southern Christian College and St Mary’s College. Eva and her team won the Casa Real Trophy for the best High School Team performance and the Sutherland Trophy for the best overall performance, including Year 11/12 riders.
Next for Eva is an exciting opportunity representing Tasmania at the 2022 Interschools Championships in Sydney from 26 - 30 September in the disciplines of Eventing and Dressage.
Eva was selected for this event following her results at state level where she won the Under 16’s Eventing Championships and placed 4th in the Under 16’s Dressage. Eva will be competing with Noddy, who is an 18 year old thoroughbred, who was a racehorse in his younger days and has been eventing for the last six years. Good luck to Eva and Noddy in their first national championships!

Hobart International is set to be back at the Domain Tennis Centre, from 7-14 Jan 2023 and there are ball kids positions up for grabs for children aged 11-16 years who play tennis, enjoy watching, or love sport! It is a great way to meet new friends, make memorable moments, and to be a part of the biggest international tennis tournament in Hobart. Without the ball kids this event wouldn’t be a success!
Children will need to be available for the duration of the event, as well as some training days in Oct & Nov. Click on the button below for more information.
