Student Futures Day and Night

Student Futures Day and Night

Student Futures Day and Night was made up of three exciting events for our current and future students. In the morning we kicked off with our amazing Futures Expo with over 30 higher education providers joining us in the CRC Sydenham Learning Common. Our Year 11 and 12 students had the opportunity to meet and speak to providers such as ACU, RMIT, University of Melbourne, ACAP and so many more. They made contacts, ask questions and gathered invaluable information that will support them in making those really important decisions about their next steps after Secondary education.

In the afternoon year 10 students from CRC Caroline Springs, St Albans and North Keilor joined us to take part in three activities to support them in choosing their Pathway, program and subjects for when they join us in 2020. They asked questions of our panel that that consisted of specialists in Teaching and Learning, Wellbeing and Careers as well as our expert student panellists who helped bust myths and preconceptions about VCE and VCAL programs. They also had the chance to meet a student representative from every subject we have on offer her at CRC Sydenham, asking crucial questions about work load, lesson content and key skills for each subject. In addition they had a presentation from members of the Pathway team so they could find out about our three programs options VET, VCE and VCAL AND where it all can lead. It was great to meet the class of 2021 and learn about their future goals and aspirations.

In the evening we welcomed over 1800 guests to our subject expo where  future students and their parents met our current subject representatives and faculty members. They took in displays, demonstrations and discussions with those people who know the subjects and courses best. They also listened to presentations from the Leaders in VCE, VET and VCAL programs as well as the College Leadership team. Great questions were asked and answered, information was shared and friendships were formed. The atmosphere was buzzing and we can’t wait to see what the next generation of CRC Sydenham students has n store for the whole community!
