SOCIAL ACTION DAY

This week we celebrated our annual Social Action day. The day was a huge success! A special congratulation is extended to the amazing effort of our Year Six children. The Year Six children planned and led the activities for the day. The day ended in a PowerPoint presentation of the enjoyment of our students participating in activities. This once again reminded us just how lucky we are and also how we can Rewrite the stars and be leaders of change.

A huge thank you to all the St Francis Xavier families for their kind and generous donations. What a privilege it is to be a part of such a wonderful and giving community. Your generous contribution to the lives of our families at Buhisan Elementary will certainly rewrite their stars. Please take a look at the photos of our wonderful Social Justice Liturgy Team who kindly offered to help sort all of our wonderful donations. THANK YOU.

St Vincent de Paul Food Appeal

Friday 21 June

Each year, as a school community, we support the efforts of our local chapter of St Vincent de Paul volunteers in their collection of food items to distribute to families in need in the Montmorency area.

We know that there are many calls on each of us to help these days but we believe in supporting such work in our own community and this long standing partnership means that the volunteers now depend on our ongoing commitment. In anticipation of a successful appeal, we thank you for your ongoing generosity.

Year Five/Six – Toilet Rolls and canned vegetables or canned fruit or cereal

Year Three/Four – coffee, tea, Milo, spreads, such as Jam or vegemite.

Prep/One/Two - pasta sauce, tinned fish or cans of soup

RECONCILIATION 2019

Congratulations to all our Year Three students who have had the Sacrament of Reconciliation or Blessing of Reconciliation. We have celebrated five very special ceremonies with the children and their families, led by Fr Terry and Fr Michael. We thank them very much for leading our Celebrations and making our students feel very special. We also thank all our teachers and staff who came along to support our Year Three students and their families and especially thank Guy Toomey, Lana Brockenshire and Charlotte Hunter who assisted our students through their learning in the classroom.

We now keep in our prayers and wish each and every Year Three student the very best for their preparation for the Eucharist celebrations in 2020.

PROJECT COMPASSION

The Theme for this year is ‘Lives change when we all give 100%’. Project Compassion is Caritas Australia's annual Lenten fundraising and awareness-raising appeal. Millions of Australians come together in solidarity with the world's poor to help end poverty, promote justice and uphold dignity. Each classroom has been given a box to collect money this year for Project Compassion. We will be collecting these boxes this week.
