Classroom Clippings

Year Two
The focus for Inquiry this term is all about the sky. After talking about the different types of clouds in the sky, the students used their engineering, science and teamwork skills to create the four different types of clouds with cotton balls, texta and glue.
The Year Two’s artwork this term centres around the sky, seasons and how these influence our world.
The students have created artwork that displays the contrast between the night sky and the day sky. 2JE student’s art pieces are inspired by the night sky based in a cityscape. They’ve used colours such as blue, black, white and grey within their paintings to show the moon and stars glowing within the night sky; reflecting off the buildings beneath it.
2LA students have created their art pieces to reflect a vibrant sunset against the desert plains. They have used colours such as red, orange, yellow and pink to create an effervescent sunset descending after a long day. Using paint for the background and cardboard clippings for silhouettes, the year two’s have created beautiful artwork with meaning and intent.
As a home task, the students are observing features of the night sky (clouds, stars, moon etc) and recording their findings with their family. The Year Two students are really enjoying learning interesting, scientific facts about our Earth and beyond.
Prep Excursion
On Monday 3rd June a group of excited Prep students boarded a bus for Bundoora Park to visit Cooper’s Settlement Children’s Farm.
The students saw a range of animals at the farm such as Ben the horse, goats, llama, chickens, guinea pigs, pigs, kangaroos and emus. They also had a go at making scones and finished off the day with a tractor ride (see video here - may need to download first). All in all, it was a great day with lots of learning and experiences for the students. Luckily for us, we only had a little drizzle and light rain which meant that we could enjoy the day.
