MITS Pathways

The Australian Dream

We were lucky enough to get invited to the screening of Adam Goode’s documentary The Australian Dream by the Engagement Coordinator Shareena Clanton from the City of Melbourne.  We had our current and many of our Alumni students, host families and staff attend the very powerful and touching film.  We were then invited into a private section for lunch which was fantastic. Thanks to all involved. 😊

AFL Indigneous High Performance Day

Some of our current and Alumni female students were invited to the trials for the AFL Indigenous Kickstart performance day at the Essendon Football Club. The day included some games and fitness testing and were looked after by our very own Brad Copeland. Those selected will then attend a camp in September, then the final 25 will attend the second camp in October. Best of luck to all our girls! 😊

Finals Fever

It’s finals time for some of our students and we are looking forward to cheering them on. We have a few Alumni students in finals which is great news. Below is a pic of Jodie and Jenae’s footy team after training for finals. Good luck to all of our MITS students who will be participating in finals over the next few weeks.

Poetry from Jodie

Firbank Grammar sent through the below poem written by Jodie.  The poem is about her time at Lockington. It’s a great poem and we wanted to share with you all.

Life at Lockington

This place is so noisy

Kids playing footy, screaming,

Laughing, shouting.

Room at night full of scary darkness.

Cars beeping the horn in the middle of the night.

Strangers walking past screaming.

Footy fans wearing black and yellow scarves.

We walk to St Kevins to do homework in the library.

Staff getting grumpy at us because we make a lot of noise.

Owls crying at night.

Telling some stories around the campfire.

Every Thursday getting some chocolate muffins

From Rowena’s café.

Con pulls up at Lockington to say hi with his old Mercedes.

Swimming in the sunny hot weather at St Kilda beach.

The day I left I felt really emotional
