Grade 5 Huon Camp – Spring Beach
Last week, Grade 5 Huon headed off to camp at Spring Beach in Orford. The students enjoyed a fantastic few days filled with adventure, teamwork and new experiences.
Here are some of the highlights shared by the students:
Liam When I did number 4 on the low ropes on my first try during the competition, I figured out all the strategies to reach the end. I shared them with my team, and then they completed it on their first try as well.
Addison I really enjoyed going on the flying fox because I got to go across the lake, take my hands off and feel free.
Eliza I really liked the flying fox.
Nayte If I could relive one camp moment, it would be the flying fox because I got to go upside down. I only did it once, so I didn’t get to go twice upside down, but I really enjoyed it because the wind in my face was so nice.
Isla If I could relive one camp moment, it would be going on the kayaks with my friends, splashing each other, and swimming together in the dam.
Melisa One of my favourite moments at camp was the flying fox because I was scared to go to the treehouse at first. It was fun when I zoomed through the air. It felt amazing!
Hamish One of my favourite moments at camp was when we were watching SpongeBob SquarePants.
Lucie I’ll always remember the time we had the Grade Five campfire. It was really warm and cozy. We got to roast marshmallows and listen to music.
Barbara One of my favourite moments was the flying fox because it was so fun and it was so fast. While people had their turn we helped push the platform to Nigel so he could catch everybody.
Paloma I’ll never forget the moment at camp when we did the obstacle course and everyone kept falling. I came home with bruises after that, but it was worth it watching everyone fall, especially Mrs. Quilliam!
Jase My favourite activity at camp was kayaking because I was going fast and bumping into everyone.
Kobin I enjoyed kayaking, floating, and drifting across the nice cool water with the breeze on our faces. It was wonderful. I would love to do it again sometime.
Girisha If I could relive one camp moment, it would be the flying fox because it sent us zooming through the air over the dam and onto the staircase platform. We got to do the flying fox twice!
Jennisa The funniest thing that happened at camp was when Mr. McGuinness was doing crate stacking and was shaking so badly. It was so funny I couldn’t stop laughing.
Jiyaan My favourite moments at camp were kayaking, flying fox, watching TV, and watching Mr. McGuinness do crate stacking.
Alexis My favourite of all things was archery. I also loved the flying fox, kayaking, and the campfire.
Nina Kayaking was the funnest thing that my group did because we had a water fight with are paddles and some of us jumped in the water and went for a swim.
Saira I enjoyed the flying fox because I was above the lake and put my hands out. “Woosh woosh!” When I was on the flying fox, I fell when I got onto the stairs.
Jakist My favourite activity at camp was the flying fox because I went upside down.
Charley If I could relive one camp moment, it would be when I went on the flying fox on Tuesday. It was very thrilling to jump down from a large treehouse and zoom all the way down over the lake and onto the ground.
A big thank you to all the adults who came along on camp to support the students.
