School and Community Library Program
Welcome back to term 2!
The library has had a little makeover over the holidays. Hooray! A bit of reshuffling, Marie Kondo-ing and reorganising means that there is now more forward facing shelving and room for browsing. The picture story book collection also received some TLC so as to make it more accessible to younger humans. Check it out!

Did you know that each child that attends an outreach storytime incursion or excursion receives their very own showbag from us? Thank you to Neo and Doxie's grandma Vicky for sewing the beautiful drawstring library bags that each child receives, and to Seddon Book Alley for sponsoring our outreach program by providing each child with a $10 book voucher. If you can assist Vicky with sewing a few bags, please let Kat know by emailing: library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au. One centre was so inspired by our bags that they made more of their own for each of their rooms!

Today Thomas from Grade 5 visited Footscray Early Learning Centre to read Lucy Cousins' classic Peck, Peck, Peck. Thomas chose the book himself (and what a brilliant choice - it was age appropriate, contained lots of repetition and was tactile - well done Thomas!) and did an excellent job of reading it! We'll continue with our visits next week.

You read correctly! St Augustine's is partnering with The Westsider to introduce a Kids' Page in the paper. Submissions are open to all primary school aged children in the west and can be emailed to: library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au. The first kids page will be in June's Westsider. For more info, head to the Westsider page on our school website. Get submitting!

Today we kicked off our first ever St Augustine's playgroup session with lots of messy fun! A big thank you to the year 5s who facilitated this week's session and ran the activities. Our next session will be in a fortnight on the 15th of May. If you, or someone you know, would like to attend, please email library@sayarraville.catholic.edu.au. Playgroup sessions are FREE and open to families from inside and outside our school community.
Here's the recipe for the cloud dough we made - so fun!

On the 14th of May, Melbourne City Mission will have their Sleep at the 'G to raise money to end youth homelessness. At St Augustine's we will be doing our part by hosting a 'soft toy sleepover' in the library. Students will be asked to bring a gold coin and 'drop off' their soft toys on Thursday afternoon at the library, before they go home. This is where the toys will have their sleepover. The following morning students will be able to return and collect their toys and see what they got up to.
Please join us for a special Storytime session on Friday the 15th of May in the library from 8 - 8.30. Toast and warm drinks will be provided.

On the 27th of May at 12pm we will be celebrating National Simultaneous Storytime with the rest of the country by reading, Luna Roo the Kangaroo Baller as a whole school. We will share a picnic lunch at the back of Alfa Bakehouse Yarraville before counting down to Luna Roo! Come join us if you're around or read more about NSS here.
Thank you to everyone who keeps coming along to Storytime! It's such a wonderful way to end the week. If you missed out on taking home a copy of Margaret Fulton's Anzac Biscuit Recipe, you can access it here.
A few updates:

Thank you all for your constant support. It really is a privilege to share the joy of reading with our St Augustine's community.
