Teaching & Learning Update

Welcome back to Term 2
I hope the break offered your family some time to rest, recharge, and enjoy a slower pace together. It’s been wonderful to see our students return with smiling faces, ready to learn, reconnect, and embrace all that this term has to offer. There’s already a great sense of energy across the school, and we’re looking forward to a term filled with learning, growth, and community connection.
As always, our focus remains on high-quality teaching and learning in every classroom. Our staff have been working hard to plan engaging and purposeful learning experiences, and we encourage students to continue building strong routines around reading, organisation, and curiosity.
In classrooms across the school, students have been thoughtfully engaging in learning about ANZAC Day, developing an understanding of its significance, the values of courage and service, and why it remains an important part of our national story. It has been wonderful to see the respectful discussions and reflections taking place, particularly as our Year 6 leaders prepare to lead our ANZAC Day ceremony.
Students have also begun preparing for Mother’s Day, with classes reflecting on the important women in their lives. Through writing, art, and classroom conversations, students are exploring the many ways the “Women of Wollert” support, guide, and care for them. These learning experiences not only build literacy and creativity but also foster gratitude and connection.
Here’s to a fantastic Term 2 ahead!
Times Tables Rock Stars Leaderboard – Celebrating Success
We are proud to celebrate the fantastic efforts of our students on the Times Tables Rock Stars leaderboard this week.
A big congratulations to Anaya Usman in 5A, who is currently ranked #1. Achieving Headliner status with an impressive 20,383 lifetime coins, Anaya has demonstrated exceptional dedication and consistently fast recall of times tables facts.
Well done also to Makdad Tawil in 4A, who has secured #2 on the leaderboard as a Gigger, with 2,019 lifetime coins. Makdad’s commitment to regular practice is clearly paying off. Keep pushing for that next rock status!
While the leaderboard is ranked by total coins earned, we also recognise that true progress in Times Tables Rock Stars comes from improving speed and accuracy.
We are therefore equally proud of all students who are working hard to reduce their answer times and build confidence in their multiplication skills.
Keep practising, keep improving, and keep rocking!
Take Home Reading Reminder
A friendly reminder to please ensure your child is bringing home reading material each day. If this has not been happening regularly, please reach out to your child's classroom teacher. Reading regularly at home helps build confidence, fluency, and a love of reading. Even a few minutes each night can make a big difference. Thank you for your ongoing support.
Book Donation: Thank You for Your Generosity
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Najdenovski family who have so generously donated books to our school and to all other families who have done so in the past. Your contributions are greatly appreciated and make a meaningful difference to our classrooms. These books help us build rich, engaging classroom libraries and provide students with more opportunities to explore, enjoy, and develop a love of reading. Your ongoing support plays an important role in fostering a positive reading culture across our school community.
