This week St Peter’s celebrated Harmony Day which highlighted cultural diversity in our school. It was great to see our students showing their cultural dress and working together with mutual respect. One of the books that comes to mind that is written from a migrant’s point of view is “The Happiest Refugee” by Anh Do. Escaping Vietnam after the war, Anh’s family had to overcome many challenges when adapting to life in Australia. However, Anh was grateful that his family could settle into a country which offered them so many opportunities. Anh gained a scholarship to an elite school but worried about the cost to his hard working mother which turned out to be well worth it as he eventually became a successful comedian, author and artist.
