Term 1 Reflections – Clyde North Campus

As we come to the final newsletter for Term 1, I genuinely can’t believe how quickly the term has flown by. It has been such a fantastic term at our Clyde North Campus, and I am so grateful for the warm welcome I have received from our staff, students and families. I already feel very much at home.

This term has been wonderfully busy, filled with memorable events, meaningful learning experiences and many moments of student success. We’ve shared in our Swimming Carnival, Year 7 Camp, NAPLAN, College Production rehearsals, SIS sport, a range of excursions, the VET Hospitality Café, and our Lenten journey together. Students and staff have also shown incredible generosity through our fundraising efforts for Project Compassion, alongside preparation for the SIS Big Night Concert on March 31. It has truly been energising to see our community so actively involved.

Harmony Day was a real highlight of the term and a joyful celebration of the rich diversity that makes up our Clyde North community. A heartfelt thank you to all of our talented performers who shared their culture with such pride and generosity. Performances included the Tinikling Filipino Dance, Siva Samoa, a Sri Lankan staff and student group, Neary Chea Chour (Cambodian/Laos dance), Punjabi Traditional Folk Dance, a Filipino Band, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Sri Lankan/Egyptian Dance, a Filipino Song, Afgan Attan, Indian Cultural Dance, Mauritian Sega Dance and the Fashoda United Dance. The energy, colour and sense of connection on the day were truly special.

A special mention must also go to our Year 12 VCE‑VM students, who ran a variety of international food stalls as part of one of their projects. Students planned menus for recess and lunch, ordered ingredients, cooked throughout the day and sold delicious meals, raising funds for Project Compassion. Thank you to our VCE‑VM students and staff for your hard work and for bringing our Harmony Day celebrations to life through food from around the world.

Looking ahead, we have our Cross Country event on Monday — I wish all students well and look forward to seeing which house claims the win.

We will conclude our Lenten season next week, finishing the term on Thursday, April 2, with the Stations of the Cross. Students will finish early at 12:53pm on this day. We gently remind students that if they are heading out into the community that afternoon, they continue to represent our College and are expected to live our ROCKS values beyond the school gates.

Thank you to our entire St Peter's Clyde North community for such a positive and uplifting start to the year. I hope everyone has a restful break, and I look forward to all that Term 2 will bring.
