Literacy - Yirra and Her Deadly Dog, Demon

This term, we are enjoying Yirra and Her Deadly Dog, Demon by Anita Heiss. The story follows Yirra and her much-loved but very mischievous dog, Demon, whose naughty behaviour is causing chaos at home and in the neighbourhood! We have been developing our understanding of vocabulary throughout the story, with students volunteering to read aloud in front of the class.

Mathematics - Fractions and Measurement

This term, students have been learning about fractions, including how to identify them and how they can be combined to make a whole.

We have also been exploring measurement, with a range of activities focused on reading, measuring, ordering, and estimating both inside and outside the classroom.

Religious Education - The Circle of Life

This term, students have been exploring the different levels of loss in our lives, identifying examples of small, medium, and significant loss. We have also been discussing the feelings associated with these experiences and how we can support others who are going through loss. We are now beginning to make connections to the life of Jesus, exploring how he experienced loss during his life.

Year 3-4 Camp

On the 9th and 10th of June, we are heading to Alexandra Adventure Camp! Students are super excited to be going away for this time, with lots of questions around which activities we will be participating in. We have sent home the general information with permission slip, a Confidential Medical Form and a packing list. If you are missing one of these sheets, Bek has copies in her Office that are able to be picked up.

Melbourne Football Club Visit

Last week, we welcomed the Melbourne Football Club to our school, including former St John’s student Georgia Gall, who returned to visit. It was amazing to hear about their different experiences and how being in the AFL shapes their lives. How lucky we are!
