SOCIAL MEDIA AGE RESTRICTIONS ARE NOW IN EFFECT FOR UNDER 16's

There are still many students expressing to school staff that they're experiencing friendship conflicts on social media platforms that they should not be accessing. Please see below advice from eSafety Gov for assistance in this area.

The Australian Government's new social media age restrictions are now in effect, marking a significant step in protecting young Australians during a critical stage of their development. To support families, educators and young people with these changes, the eSafety Commissioner has released a comprehensive suite of resources designed to explain the new requirements, why they have been introduced, and how to navigate the transition. Further information and resources are available via the eSafety Social Media Age Restrictions Hub. The hub includes practical guidance for parents and carers, educators, schools, and young people, along with answers to frequently asked questions. eSafety is also hosting a series of live webinars across Australia to provide additional information and respond to questions from the community. Additional information can be found in the eSafety media release.
