Junior School Update
Cosmodome - Planetarium Incursion
On Tuesday 5th May the planetarium came to school. Students loved this experience and were very engaged throughout the sessions. Here are a few highlights from our Junior students.
- Bella: I liked learning about every planet in the solar system
- Oliver: I liked that we could see all of the big and small stars
- Oscar: I learnt that there are stars much bigger than the sun
- Alice: I loved learning about how hot and cold the planets are.
- Greyson: I loved the asteroids and how they spin around.
- River: I liked learning that the earth is on a slant, and if it wasn’t, we wouldn’t have any seasons!
- Gus: I loved it when we saw the video with other suns even bigger then ours!
In the art room this week students created night sky collages inspired by this experience. Students used a variety of collaging techniques to create stars, suns, moons and planets.
Kinder Art Show Visits
Niki and I visited MMK Kinder this week to create some wonderful art works with the 4 Year Old Group. We read the picture story book ‘The Rainbow Fish’, discussed the message of sharing and friendship behind the story and then created glittery rainbow fish using the children’s hand prints. During the week the Year 3 and ⅚ students created beautiful under the sea backgrounds using acrylic paints and collage for the rainbow fish.
These art works will be displayed at our school art show in October. The kinder children will be invited to attend and see their work up on display.
We are looking forward to visiting Little St Margaret’s and John MaKemzie Kinders to do some art as well!
