Winter Sport Gala Days

Our Year 5 and 6 students recently participated in the Wellington District Winter Sport Gala Days, representing St John Vianney's with enthusiasm, teamwork, and great sportsmanship.
SJV fielded 12 teams across four different sports, including two softball teams, two AFL 9's teams, three soccer teams, and five netball teams. Over two exciting days of competition, our students played a series of matches against other schools from across the Wellington District.
Throughout the gala days, our students demonstrated excellent skill, determination, and resilience. There were many closely contested matches, with plenty of wins and losses along the way.
A special congratulations goes to our Girls Softball Team, who had an outstanding tournament. After a series of strong performances, they won the Grand Final and have now qualified for the Division event. This is a fantastic achievement, and we wish them the very best in the next stage of competition.
Thanks to our staff and parent helpers who assisted with team preparation, scoring, and support throughout the event. Their time and commitment helped make the gala days a great success. A huge amount of grattitude must go to Cristy, Mars and Kareem who were amazing coaches for our girls softball team and two of our soccer teams - without their support, our students would not have had such an amazing opportunity to play on these days.
Congratulations to all of our Year 5 and 6 students for their efforts and for being such positive ambassadors for SJV. We are very proud of the way they represented our school.
