Postive Behaviour for Learning

The focus for next week is “I value diversity always and everywhere.” At school, this means recognising, respecting and celebrating the differences that make each person unique. Every student and staff member brings different cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ideas and experiences to our community.

Valuing diversity helps create a school where everyone feels safe, included and respected. It encourages kindness, understanding and empathy, and reminds us that we are stronger when we learn from one another. By valuing diversity always and everywhere, we help build a welcoming community where every person feels they belong.

Examples

Non-examples

  • Respecting that others learn differently to me
  • Understanding that we are a multicultural community, and sometimes others will speak, interact and maybe even eat differently.
  • Recognising that sometimes people will want their own space, whilst others may want to be around people

  • Pointing out when a student in class is getting more help or when their work looks different to mine
  • Pointing out the difference in others
  • Putting down another person based on their ability (E.g.: You only got 3 words right then.)
