We were very fortunate to have some students from Damascus College St Brendan’s Campus visit us last Wednesday. During this session, students from SC1 worked with a Year 8 buddy. They were able to share a story and then complete a literacy activity they have designed that connects directly to their narrative.

There is certainly a lot of enjoyment sharing literacy and building relationships. This partnership between Scotsburn and Damascus has now been going strong for over 12 months, and we love it! Thank you for visiting us, Damascus.

Have a great week,

Beth and Chelsea

SC2 Learning Snapshot

Over the past week in SC2, students have been spending some time publishing their first person animal narratives. Students have spent quite a long time drafting these and it is wonderful to be able to see the process through to an edited and published piece. This piece of writing brought to the end our literature study of War Horse, which was such an engaging and informative unit. Transferring these newly developed skills and knowledge into some incredible writing pieces was just the icing in the cake!

A huge good luck to our Grade 3s who head off on camp next week. You guys will have so much fun!

Good luck to our Grade 6 leaders who are attending the GRIP leadership conference in Melbourne on Thursday. We look forward to seeing the ideas they bring back to the campus.

Mr Morgan will be joining students for the entire experience, with Raquel also attending the day part of the camp. Please make sure you have everything packed and organised well in advance and have returned your medical forms this week.

If any parents of Grade 3 students have any questions, please do come and see Mr Morgan this week. It’s getting exciting!

Grade 4swill join SC1 and Mrs Connor for the day at Buninyong campus

Grade 5/6swill join the Grade 5/6 students at the Buninyong campus for the day. Mr Morgan will be there at Buninyong in the morning prior to leaving for the camp to help settle the Grade 5/6 students in.

On Tuesday 31st March, Grade 4s and 5/6 students will have normal arrangements at Scotsburn with Mrs Robinson.  A Compass reminder will be sent out later this week.

Planning WeekThis Week

As is our routine towards the end of every term, classroom and specialist teachers are provided with a planning day with their teams to review student data and plan for next term’s student learning.

In order to do this, it means a slight change in the timetable for all students this week. Yesterday SC2 had their specialist day with Mrs Murphy, with SC1 having their day on Thursday. Don't forget to send along PE shoes!

Holiday animal care

It is that time of the term again where we are putting out the offer for anyone that would be interested and has the time to assist with Pip and our chickens over the holidays. Pip the bluetongue lizard would love a holiday at someone’s house, and she is extremely low maintenance! Our chickens will stay onsite, however just need a check for eggs, water and food every few days.

If your family is interested and willing to help with Pip, please come and see Jarrod in the next few days to make arrangements.

Below is a sign up sheet for any families who can pop in to check on food and water for the chickens. The food is kept in the door on the right hand side of the coop. Thanks in advance!

Chicken Care Holiday Schedule

Last Day of Term2nd April

A reminder that next Thursday 2nd April is our final day of Term 1, with a 2:30pm finish time. As is our usual routine on these days, we will begin the day at the Buninyong campus for a whole school assembly, the bus back to Scotsburn at 11am to finish of the term in our classrooms.

NAPLAN - Well Done!

Congratulations to our Grade 3s and 5s for their amazing work completing NAPLAN assessments over the past two weeks. All students have been so positive about the experience and have given their best efforts. You should all be very proud of yourselves!

Scotsburn Intercampus Travel

At times, Scotsburn students will be transported between campuses in order to attend classes, assemblies, special days and events. On most occasions, transport required through the day will be by bus and occasionally private car for smaller groups of students. Parents may be asked to drop off or collect from the Buninyong campus if sessions are at the beginning or ending of a day.

We will always let you know of any upcoming travel arrangements via our newsletter, Compass, or via phone for smaller, more specific travel arrangements.

If you ever have any questions or concerns regarding intercampus travel, please contact your child’s teacher.
