Walking 9 to 5 Update

Nearly sixty walkers gave up their Saturday on 10 October to participate in the Walking 9 to 5 Walkathon, continuing BMGS's proud tradition of endurance walking for a cause. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who participated, and especially to the many volunteers who generously gave their time and supported our walkers throughout the day.

A special congratulations goes to Year 10, whose leadership and commitment played a significant role in bringing this event about and ensuring the success of the day.

The event saw students, staff and community members walking from 9:00am until the final bell-ringing milestones were achieved just on 5:00pm. Collectively, participants completed more than 690 laps of the course, covering an extraordinary 1,100 kilometres in total. To put that achievement into perspective, that is approximately the distance from BMGS to Adelaide!

The day was a wonderful example of community spirit, perseverance and personal challenge. From our youngest Kindergarten students taking part in their first-ever walkathon to junior and senior students steadfastly completing lap after lap, the determination and enthusiasm on display were truly inspiring. Every participant should be immensely proud of their efforts.

Two Junior School students, Jackson Elliott (Year 2) and Louis Rafferty (Year 5), particularly exemplified the spirit of the event by walking more than 20 kilometres during the day. They demonstrated commitment, resilience and the willingness to push beyond what they thought possible. They were an inspiration to all.

All funds raised will go towards supporting Compassion Australia, Greystanes Disability Service, and the Ibulanku Project. Walking 9 to 5 has continued BMGS's long-standing tradition of endurance walking for a cause, providing an opportunity for our community to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others.

Thank you once again to everyone who contributed to this event.
