Year 8 Camp

Year 8 Camp Reflection
Hannah Chalmers, Lois Hurst and Myrah Bhargava, Year 8
On 22 April, we headed off to Golden Valleys in Flinders for our Year 8 Camp — and we couldn’t wait to see what our three-day adventure had in store!
One of the biggest highlights was definitely the Giant Swing. Perched high up on a hill, the swing gave us a breathtaking view over the forest below.
After a bit of encouragement (and a pep talk) from our Camp Leader, we learned how to work together to pull the rope and lift each person into the air before letting them fly.
When it was finally my turn (Myrah), I have to admit — I was pretty nervous! But I decided to give it a shot, and it ended up becoming my favourite activity of the camp!
Later that day, we learned how to pack a hiking backpack, fitting in everything we’d need for the overnight hike — such as food, tents and cooking gear.
After a short trek through the hills, we arrived at our campsite and set up for the night. Then it was time to cook up a delicious butter chicken curry with our instructor. The night ended perfectly with a big campfire, where we sipped Milo, shared stories and sang songs under the stars.
Overall, Year 8 Camp was a great chance to step out of our comfort zones, build our teamwork skills and reconnect with our friends after the holidays.
A big thank you to Golden Valleys for giving us such an unforgettable experience!
