Prep

What a fantastic term of learning we have had in Prep. We can hardly believe that we have come to the end of Term 3 so quickly and that our little people only have one more term with us in Prep.

We have had many fun and engaging activities this term. When we asked the students which events have been the highlights for them this term, they listed the following as their top 5:

Specialist Open Night

The Prep team would love to give a special shout out to Mr. T for being an honorary Prep teacher this Term. Mr. T has spent many hours across all three Prep classrooms and it is clear the students feel well supported when he steps in for us when we cannot be in the classroom. Thanks Mr. T!

We hope all of our Preps enjoy their well-earned school holidays. Stay safe and we look forward to welcoming them back for the most magical term of the year.

Grade 1 & 2

Congratulations to all our Level 1 and 2 students and their families for an outstanding Terms work! We have loved watching the students challenge themselves and grow as caring children and curious learners this term.

Over the last two weeks we have enjoyed finalising our Information Reports on our favourite animals or sports. The students have been excited to publish these into class books for their classrooms. In Reading we have been practising strategies to monitor our reading and self correct when we make an error. In Maths, we finished our study on Australian money and began revising the topics we have learnt this term.

When reflecting on Term 3, some of our highlights this term have included: swimming, Book Week, Buddies and Footy Day.

One of our favourite activities this term has been celebrating our knowledge of chemical science. This week the Level 2's completed their term with a look at the changes within ingredients when mixing the together and applying heat by making delicious pancakes. The Level 1 students displayed their knowledge of First Nations Scientists by completing a natural materials challenge of their choice. Take a look at some of their creations in the pictures below - including some 'games', 'art', 'tools' and 'shelters'.

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all our volunteer helpers for their support reading this term. We wish everyone a very safe and restful holiday, enjoying special time together with your friends and family.

Grade 3 & 4

The Year 3s and 4s have been working very hard in these last few weeks of school.

In our final Science session, in which we have been learning about States of Matter, the students made their own crayons from melted, broken crayons! They looked so beautiful.

'Hoop Time' was another big day for our level, with almost the whole cohort participating. It was a fantastic day, everyone played their best and had a lot of fun. Special thanks to the parents who helped out and Mr D Smith for managing the tricky side of the organisation for the day.

In Reading and Writing, our poetry focus has been a huge success. Students have learned about and then written many different types poems using a variety of language features and elements, such as haiku, cinquain, alliteration, syllabification, rhyme and so much more!

What a wonderful Term we have had. Students have enjoyed many fantastic learning opportunities in school and the wider community. These have included; Hoop Time, Buddies, Winter Sports Finals, District Athletics, Making Ice-Cream, Book Parade, Swimming, Author Visit and Footy Day to name a few...

Oh Addison, my intelligent friend

It was where we were learning to count money

yes that very special day where I found you funny

in grade one we go separated, our hearts felt pain

in there was just gloom no jokes, no laughing just sad, sad rain

from 2-5 we were together, hearts repaired I hope by grade six

that our friendship can still stay while time ticks

As that prep day went on, we played as far as time will go

I told my parents about the funny friend that I know

to this day we still remain friends from the very start

forever and ever you will stay in my heart

I hope this ode shows how much I care, truly I do

Ode to Dim-sim by Coops 5/6V

Dim-sim, oh, dim-sim, how you look delicious,

you must taste elegant, but look vicious,

you’re fluffy, thin claws, my mouth drooling,

the battle has just commenced, fiery cannon balls spew into the sky then land down in a sweltering paroxysm

Swords colliding, maces thrashing, the yells are drowned by the whistling of iron-arrows.

enormous dragons shower boiling molten onto calvary and artillery, dead knights charred ground and crumbling towers. fire engulfs the once green grass. sissling acids swirl into a storm in the sky, death, destruction and no mercy.

the fire simmers, life blooms, the life cycle repeats itself. there is peace.
