Getting Ready for the Concert!

It's a busy and exciting time in music as students across all year levels prepare for the upcoming school concert.

Our Prep students are having a wonderful time finding their feet — literally! Through singing, movement, and plenty of play, they're getting used to using their voices, moving together as a group, and discovering what it feels like to be on a stage. There's no pressure, just fun. Everyone gets a little moment to shine, and the group is always right there cheering each other along.

Year 1 and 2 students are getting more familiar with their concert songs each week, adding simple movements and learning where to stand. They're working on singing clearly and with expression, and we've been giving everyone small chances to try singing on their own — just enough to build a bit of independence without it feeling too daunting. The goal is for every child to walk onto that stage feeling ready and confident.

In Years 3 and 4, things are stepping up a notch. Students are working with more structured choreography and stage blocking, and they're starting to understand how movement can bring a song to life. Solo moments are a big part of rehearsals this term, and it's been great to watch students grow in confidence. There's a real sense of the whole performance coming together as one.

Year 5 and 6 students are going all out this semester. They're tackling musical theatre-style songs with a focus on vocal clarity, stage presence, and performing as a strong ensemble — and every student gets their own solo moment. On top of that, they've been creating and performing short comic skits in groups, which has honestly been a highlight. Watching them develop their ideas, nail their timing, and play to an audience has been a lot of fun for everyone involved.

We can't wait to share what they've all been working on!
