Dear Parents,

It has been a busy term with lots of exciting events happening around the school. Here are some of the highlights!

We hosted our first chess tournament for the year. Eighty one students from a range of schools across Victoria including 19 of our own came together to compete in a primary open tournament.

Our school came 6th out of 15 schools, with Jason H being our highest ranking student coming 13th and earning himself a distinction, a bronze medal and a place in the semi finals later in the year. Well done Jason! We look forward to our next tournament being a Prep to Year 3 event on 3rd June.

We were fortunate to be invited to take part in the MND Ice Bucket Challenge breaking the World Record. This was an important opportunity to bring awareness to the disease of MND which is close to my heart with my sister passing away from the disease on 8th April 2025. Being interviewed on the day by Channel 7 News was also a great opportunity to promote our school.

We were blessed with lovely weather at our school athletics carnival. It was great to see the students trying their best during their events and demonstrating good sportsmanship and supporting others. However, at the end of the day, there can only be one winner with Lynch House (gold/yellow) scoring the victory.

We finished Term 1 with our Welcome Picnic, Easter Para-liturgy and the draw of our Easter egg raffle.

It was wonderful to bring the community together to celebrate and welcome our new families at the picnic. The weather was glorious and the children enjoyed the sausage sizzle, the Zooper Doopers and the activities run by Proactivity. Thank you to the Parent's Association for organising the event.

The last day of Term 1 saw the students across the school present their interpretation of Holy Week, with the Juniors presenting Palm Sunday, the Middles presenting the Last Supper and the Seniors presenting the Stations of the Cross. This is an important time in our Liturgical calendar as it forms the foundation of our faith. I was proud to see the students show such reverence during these performances.

We finished the day with the drawing of our Easter egg raffle which was filled with fun and excitement and even a visit from the Easter Bunny himself.

During Term 1, there has been lots of interest from prospective families. I have conducted 26 school tours so far this year with interest not only for Prep 2027 but also across other year levels. This is evidence that the narrative about our school in the wider community is starting to change through our active social media and word of mouth. As a result we have enrolled 8 new students during Term 1.

To further promote our school, in Term 2, we are hosting four Prep Sneak Peek sessions, giving prospective families another opportunity to experience our school. If you have a sibling starting Prep in 2027 you are welcome to attend and/or you have a connection with a local kinder or child care please spread the word.

Wishing you and your family a happy Easter and a safe holiday break. We look forward to seeing you for the beginning of Term 2 on Monday 20th April. Please note, we have school photos on the first day of Term 2 and students are to wear their Summer uniform.

Kind regards

Robyn
