Celebrating Our Students

Ellie makes a Splash for a Great Cause

Swimming more than 31 kilometres across February, Ellie Zuperman (Year 9) has once again taken part in the Starlight Foundation’s February Super Swim, completing the challenge for the fifth consecutive year. Ellie first joined the fundraiser in Year 5 after a close friend became ill, and has continued each year since, pushing herself to swim further as a personal challenge while raising funds for seriously ill children.

This year Ellie raised $1,500, which the Starlight Foundation estimates will help bring positive experiences to around 40 children in Australian hospitals.

Over the past five years, Ellie has raised almost $8,200, helping to create uplifting moments for more than 200 children facing serious illness. She completed this year’s effort with a 1.2km open water swim, an inspiring example of perseverance, generosity and community spirit.

Four Students Selected for Girls in STEM Program

Four Year 10 students – Miriam Cunliffe, Tessa Glowinski, Sarah O’Neill and Stephanie Verginis – have been selected to participate in the 2026 Veski Girls in STEM program.

The students were nominated by their Year 10 Science teachers in recognition of their excellence and enthusiasm for Science.

The year-long program connects students with qualified female scientists and researchers, providing valuable insight into STEM careers.

As part of the experience, students will participate in six mentoring sessions across the year, visit their mentor’s workplace and undertake a research project which they will present to their peers. The program will conclude with a celebration event bringing together participants from schools across Victoria.

Tessa, Stephanie, Miriam and Sarah will undertake the program alongside their regular science studies, gaining valuable mentorship and exposure to real-world scientific research.
