Kilvington Cares

Supporting Our Community in Times of Need
Bianca Lapins – Community Relations Officer
The Kilvington Cares food delivery program is a simple but powerful way our community supports one another during challenging times. Through this special volunteer initiative, Kilvington families anonymously cook home-cooked meals to other anonymous members of the community who are experiencing difficulties and could use a little extra support. This may be due to illness, recovery, a new baby, or other difficult circumstances. There are no questions asked, just help, kindness and comfort.
Kilvington Cares Coordinator Lou Cooper, a parent volunteer and member of the PFA, says the program beautifully reflects the Kilvington motto of Non Nobis Sed Omnibus — ‘Not for our own, but others’ good’.
“Kilvington Cares is a wonderful example of our community looking after one another,” Lou said. “A home-cooked meal may seem like a small gesture, but it can provide enormous comfort and support during a difficult time.”
Receiving a Kilvington Cares meal can make a real difference to another family’s day. A delicious ready-to-eat meal not only provides practical help but delivers a big Kilvington hug too. It reminds the recipients that they are part of a caring and connected community.
One recent recipient shared:
“Thank you so much for this incredibly kind gesture, it honestly means so much. Please pass on my heartfelt gratitude to the PFA and the wonderful volunteers who make the Kilvington Cares program possible.
It’s such a thoughtful way to support our community, and I feel very grateful to be on the receiving end of that care this week. I’m looking forward to enjoying the meal and those muffins! Please extend my thanks again to everyone involved! Their time and generosity are truly appreciated.”
As the program continues to grow, Kilvington Cares is seeking more volunteers who would be willing to occasionally cook a meal for another family in the community.
We also encourage families to nominate someone who may benefit from support. If you know a member of the Kilvington community who may be going through a difficult time, a home-cooked meal can be a simple but meaningful way to help.
If you would like to get involved, there are two easy ways to participate:
- Volunteer to cook a meal by signing up here
- Nominate a member of the Kilvington community to receive support to Community Relations Officer, Bianca Lapins via lapinsb@kilvington.vic.edu.au
