Our Year 1/2 students in Burnie have enjoyed a vibrant mix of learning experiences, hands‑on exploration, and community connection.

Our excursion to the Hive was a standout moment. Students immersed themselves in the wonders of the Planetarium, explored the Art Gallery, and engaged with a range of interactive science exhibits. Creating their own fossils and designing small cars sparked plenty of excitement—but as always, the real thrill came when it was time to race those cars. The competition was fierce, fun, and a definite highlight of the day.

Another memorable outing was our trip to see The Wizard of Oz. The performance captivated the students from start to finish, and they returned brimming with enthusiasm. Their recounts of the experience were thoughtful, detailed, and full of personality.

We were also fortunate to welcome Firefighter Craig, a much‑loved visitor who brings energy, humour, and vital safety lessons. His visit helped students understand how to stay safe in their homes, and they always look forward to his engaging demonstrations.

A few weeks ago, we opened our classrooms to families for an afternoon of celebration. Students proudly shared the work they were most excited about, showcasing their growth and creativity. The day wrapped up with a lively, student‑designed paper‑plane‑throwing competition—and in my class, it’s fair to say the parents may have enjoyed it just as much as the students.
