State Netball Championships

Beaufort A Review

It was the first time in 2 years we have had a team in the completion level. The girls have been working hard at our training during lunch times and putting these in practice during Wednesday nights. This tournament allowed our team to really challenge themselves. The goal was just to be competitive and learn from playing against the best in Melbourne. 

Schools we came up against was Strathmore, Belmot, Flemington, St Pauls, Montmorency and a very intimidating Loreto Toorak!

Macey and Elsie were fantastic down in defence, working hard against the opposition shooters. Maeve and Stella M midcourt running around and linking in with our defence and attack. Ruby P played centre all tournament and showed her class. Chelsea and Baylee finishing off everyone else’s good work by playing in attack and shooting. 

In our 6 games, we came out with a 3 win 3 loss record, which is a tremendous feat by the girls. They should be so proud the way they competed throughout the tournament. A huge learning curve and a great experience! 

Beaufort B Review

Our B team played in the Non-Competitive section of the tournament. This does have a ladder but there is no progression to the next stage.  

These girls have had tremendous success at the Ballarat stage and Wednesday Nights going undefeated so far this year, but we knew this competition was different and wasn’t going to come easy.

Schools like Essendon North, Strathmore, Lowther Hall Grammar and St Pauls played off in 6 games.

Many girls played a range of positions throughout the day. Ava and Alana looked great down in defence, they ability to intercept was high class. Mid court saw Eliza and Ruby G dominate all tournament. These girls will be very handy players for the A team next time in Melbourne. Asher showed promise in shooter, shooting many goals. Maysi played everywhere and showed her ability to adapt to any position. Kayleigh and Issy played mid court, helping attack and defence link together and got better as the tournament progressed! 

2 wins 2 loses 1 draw 1 bye saw us finish 3rd out of 7. Again, another learning curve for our team and I hope this pays off in their weekend sport and the rest of Wednesday Night Competition.

Regan for coaching the B team! Lastly all the parents who made the trek down to support. I know all the girls appreciated the extra support!
