100 Days of Learning - Prep Celebrates

On Monday 10 August, the Prep students celebrated 100 Days of School.

Reaching 100 days of learning is a very special milestone in the Prep classroom. It is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate just how much the Prep students have grown, learned and achieved during their first 100 days of school. It also gave us the perfect excuse to celebrate… and, of course, eat biscuits!

To make the day even more memorable, students were invited to come dressed as a 100-year-old person, and they certainly did not disappoint! I saw an impressive collection of grey hair, braces, cardigans, walking sticks and even a walking frame or two. Some students looked like they had gone from Prep to retirement in a single morning! 

The focus of the day was all things 100. Students took part in a range of fun activities, including:

100 Cheerios necklaces – Students carefully threaded 100 Cheerios onto string. This required plenty of counting, concentration and, for some students, a great deal of self-control!

100-year-old me – Students imagined what they might look like when they reach 100 years of age and wrote about their future selves. There were some very interesting predictions!

100 steps – Students tested their counting and their legs to see if they could make it 100 steps all the way to Mrs Rush’s office. We discovered that 100 steps can feel like quite a long way when you are a Prep student!

100 biscuits – Well… not quite 100 biscuits each! Students had the very important job of icing biscuits with bright colours and proudly displaying the number 100. This was definitely one of the highlights of the day, and I suspect the sugar helped with the counting!

It was wonderful to see the excitement, enthusiasm and pride on the students' faces as they celebrated this special achievement. By the end of the day, we had students who could count to 100, students with considerably more sugar in their bodies than they started with, and a few who were still proudly wearing their 100-year-old costumes long after the activities had finished!

A huge well done to our Prep students for reaching this wonderful milestone. The first 100 days have been filled with learning, growing, trying new things and becoming increasingly independent learners.
