Room 27 Takes to the Air!
In Term 3, students in Room 27 were given an exciting opportunity to participate in the SYN FM “Schools on Air” program. This fantastic initiative gives schools from across Victoria the chance to create their very own radio programs and experience the excitement of broadcasting live on air.
Each week during Literacy classes, students have been busy developing their radio programs from the ground up. They have been choosing topics that interest them, conducting research, sharing ideas, and writing engaging radio scripts. Students have explored a wide range of topics, allowing them to develop their knowledge while also building their confidence as communicators.
An important part of the experience has been giving students ownership of their programs. Students were responsible for selecting the music they wanted to feature in their shows from a list of songs provided by SYN FM, helping them create a program that reflected their interests and personalities.
As well as writing their individual radio segments, students have also learned about the planning and organisation involved in producing a live radio show. Each program requires a detailed run sheet, outlining the order and timing of each segment, music selections and other important information. These run sheets are emailed by their teacher, Angela Laino, to the SYN FM producer prior to their broadcast.
Through this experience, Room 27 students have developed a range of valuable skills, including research, writing, communication, collaboration, organisation and public speaking. Most importantly, they have had the opportunity to step outside the traditional classroom environment and experience what it is like to work as a real radio production team.
It has been wonderful to see students grow in confidence throughout the term and take pride in hearing their hard work come to life on air. Well done Room 27, on an incredible term of learning, creativity and broadcasting!
As Term 3 comes to an end, Room 27 is looking forward to a well-deserved holiday break. We hope everyone enjoys the opportunity to relax, recharge and spend time with family and friends. The students can be proud of everything they have achieved this term, and we look forward to seeing what exciting opportunities Term 4 will bring!

Room 26 has had a wonderful and exciting Term 3. This Term Room 26 were fortunate enough to participate on SYN FM radio station every Thursday. Here the students were able to brainstorm weekly topics in small groups and run these segments to the public, along with intermission songs to break up their mini podcasts. The students showcased their communication skills, collaboration skills and showcased their amazing bubbly and funny personalities. This was our highlight of this term. We are sad to see this end; however, we also look forward to our school performance where room 26 can bring song, dance and laughter to our school and community. Amazing work Room 26!!!
