Year 3 Spotlight: Dingoes, and Growth Mindsets!
It has been an incredibly busy and rewarding term in Year 3! Our students have been working exceptionally hard across all learning areas, showing great dedication and enthusiasm every single day.
Here is a look at what we’ve been up to:
English
We have been deeply immersed in Favel Parrett’s novel Wandi. The students have learned so much about the vital role dingoes play as apex predators in Australian ecosystems. Ask your children to share some of their new knowledge with you at home! To put their learning into action, students have been busy designing persuasive posters to raise awareness about the risks dingoes face and why protecting them is so important.

Health & Mindset Shifts
In Health, our focus has been on cultivating a Growth Mindset. We are learning how to reframe self-talk from a fixed mindset ("I can't do this") to a empowering growth mindset ("I can't do this yet"). Tying into our mental health lessons, students created striking visual artworks. These pieces reflect positive self-affirmations while illustrating how we can manage overwhelming "background noise" and take control of our own thoughts.
Thank you for your ongoing support at home as our Year 3 learners continue to grow, persevere, and shine!

Out of This World Highlights from Year! 🚀🪐

English - Multi-Modal Texts!
This term, Year 4 is on a Journey through the Solar System as we learn about the concept of ‘genre’. We are analysing the texts ‘Deadly Science – The Solar System: Book 5’ and ‘Meanwhile Back on Earth’ according to purpose, subject matter, form, structure and language choices. Last week, we used Canva to design a multi-modal text about Women in Space.

Maths - Mental Arithmetic
One of our favourite times of the day in Year 4 is Maths Rotations! During this time, we play card and dice games to practice quick recall of addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts! These hands-on games make building number fluency exciting, helping us strengthen our speed and confidence through friendly competition.

Prayer Assembly
Year 4 led the whole school community in a prayer assembly to celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Our Lady. We enjoyed learning the story of the Assumption and the beautiful song, ‘Mary, Gentle Mother’.

Preparing for First Holy Communion
This term , seven Year 4 students will make their First Holy Communion on September 12th. We pray for Amelie, Zoe, Scarlett, Angeli, Nathan, Douglas and Ethan as they prepare for this very special sacrament.

Grandparents Day
Another highlight of this term was Grandparents Day. Inspired by our English unit, we painted the solar system for the Year 4 grandparents who are loved ‘To the Moon and Back!’
