Father’s Day @ STMM

Next week, we will celebrate our STMM Fathers and Father Figures.

Fathers play an important role in the lives of their children and families. They help provide food, shelter, education and other basic needs. They also create a safe and secure environment where children can grow and feel protected.

Fathers are important role models. They teach values such as honesty, respect, responsibility, and hard work through their actions and behaviour. Children often learn by watching and listening to their fathers.

Fathers also give love, support, and encouragement. Their care helps children build confidence, feel valued, and develop strong emotional well-being.

Fathers who spend time with their children and take part in family life help create strong family relationships. Their involvement helps children feel supported and loved.

Fathers come in different forms - We look forward to celebrating our STMM Father’s next week!

NAPLAN Results are Out!

What is NAPLAN?

NAPLAN (National Assessment Program – Literacy and Numeracy) is a nationwide assessment completed by Australian students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9. It assesses key skills in reading, writing, language conventions (spelling, grammar and punctuation), and numeracy. NAPLAN provides a consistent measure of student achievement across Australia.

Why do we use NAPLAN?

NAPLAN helps schools, teachers, parents and education systems understand how well students are developing the essential literacy and numeracy skills needed for success at school and beyond. The results:

• Provide information about student strengths and areas for growth.

• Support teachers in planning future learning and targeted interventions.

• Help schools evaluate and improve teaching and learning programs.

• Allow parents to see how their child is performing against national standards.

• Provide governments and education authorities with information to support educational planning and resource allocation.

This year our Year 3 data has demonstrated upwards trends in Reading, Numeracy and Grammar and Punctuation, affirming that changes to our teaching are resulting in improved student outcomes. Well done to our Year 3 students on consistent improved results!

We are also incredibly proud to share that 100% of our Year 5 students achieved proficiency (Strong or Exceeding) in all NAPLAN domains: Numeracy, Reading, Spelling, and Grammar & Punctuation. This outstanding achievement reflects the dedication of our students, the support of our families, and the commitment of our staff to ensuring every learner is given the opportunity to succeed.

Congratulations to all of our Year 5 students on their effort, growth and achievement. We look forward to continuing to support each student on their learning journey.
