Respectful Relationships: Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR)

At our school, we proudly implement the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) curriculum to support student wellbeing and strengthen our positive school culture.

The Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships program explicitly teaches students the knowledge and skills needed to build resilience, develop healthy relationships, and understand the importance of respect, equality, and inclusion. Through structured, age-appropriate lessons, students learn about:

Emotional literacy – recognising and managing emotions
Personal strengths and resilience – coping with challenges and setbacks
Positive coping strategies
Problem-solving and conflict resolution
Empathy and respect for others
Understanding rights, fairness and equality

This curriculum aligns closely with our SWPBS focus and behavioural expectations, reinforcing the values we promote every day — safety, respect, responsibility, and inclusion.

By explicitly teaching these social and emotional skills, we empower students to build positive relationships, contribute to a supportive school environment, and develop lifelong skills that extend well beyond the classroom.

💬 Parent Information: Topic 1 – Emotional Literacy (RRRR)

As part of the Resilience, Rights and Respectful Relationships (RRRR) curriculum, students begin with Topic 1: Emotional Literacy. This is our current area of study.

Emotional literacy is the foundation for building resilience and positive relationships. In this unit, students learn to recognise, understand and appropriately express their emotions, as well as identify emotions in others.

Throughout these lessons, students are taught to:

Identify and name a wide range of emotions
Understand that all feelings are valid
Recognise physical clues that help them notice how they are feeling
Develop strategies to manage strong emotions
Show empathy and respond respectfully to others’ feelings

By strengthening emotional literacy, students are better equipped to:

Manage conflict calmly
Make thoughtful choices
Build positive friendships
Engage more effectively in learning

This topic supports our SWPBS focus on creating a safe, inclusive and respectful environment. When students can understand and regulate their emotions, they are more confident learners and more considerate members of our school community.
