Welcome Back!

I hope all students and families had a restful and enjoyable holiday break. It has been wonderful to welcome everyone back into their classroom routines, and for some students, back to exciting experiences such as the Year 9/10 Snow Camp!

Student Support Group (SSG) Meetings

Thank you to all the families who attended our Student Support Group (SSG) meetings, either in person or virtually, during the final week of Term 2. The meetings were very well attended, with many sessions fully booked.

The meeting minutes are now available on your child's Compass profile. If you are unable to locate them, please contact your child's classroom teacher or Section Leader for assistance.

During the SSG meetings, families were asked to provide consent regarding the use of Compass photos within students' Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems. Families could choose to provide or decline consent. Teaching and Allied Health staff will follow up with families who were unable to attend the meetings to obtain their response.

Some students use Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems, such as communication devices or communication books, to support or supplement their spoken communication. To help personalise these systems and support students in learning the names of the people they interact with, the names of students and staff may be included. Where consent has been provided, a Compass student photo may also be displayed alongside a person's name. As AAC systems travel between home and school, this information helps students communicate more effectively across both settings.

Discovery Centre

As we begin Semester 2, students are embarking on their new Discovery Units, exploring the theme Our World through the lens of sustainability. These engaging units provide opportunities for students to develop their knowledge, curiosity and understanding of the world around them while learning about caring for our environment.

At our Bundoora campus, the MILE room has been transformed into a sensory and exploration space, allowing students to immerse themselves in a range of seasonal experiences through hands-on learning and sensory play. Be sure to check out the photos of our Lower Primary students enjoying the MILE room at the end of Semester 1.
