Hello from 2Y
2Y have made a fantastic start to Term 2 and have settled back into routines with enthusiasm and focus. It's been a busy and productive few weeks!
In Writing, we've been exploring different types of poetry and learning how to structure persuasive texts. The students have enjoyed experimenting with language and finding ways to express their ideas clearly and creatively.
In Maths, we've been working on addition and subtraction strategies and learning how to apply them to real-world problems. We've also started exploring money—identifying coins, calculating totals, and giving change.
In Science, our focus has been on forces, particularly push and pull. Students have been making connections to everyday experiences and are looking forward to our upcoming experiment where they’ll get to observe these forces in action.
In Inquiry, we’ve been learning about transport and how different modes of travel can impact the environment. Here’s what a few students said when asked about their favourite types of transport:
William - I like cars because they are fast.
Blake B - I love UFOs because I could be taken by aliens
Isla - I like cars because you don’t have to walk.
Blake C - I like motorbikes because they are fast.
Skylar - I like planes because they fly up high.
Abbey - I love cruise ships because they have fun stuff to do on there.
Spencer - I like race cars because they are fast.
Mitch D - I like trucks because they are big.
Summer - I like motorbikes because they are fast.
Mackenzie - I like ships because I see them a lot.
Mitchell H - I love trucks because they are big, loud and heavy
Eva - I love GTs because they go really fast.
Aalayha- I like the car because it is fun.
Alexis - I like bikes because I get to ride with my family.
Milly - I like aeroplanes because you can fly.
Eleanor - I like aeroplanes because you can fly.
Lucy - I like cars because they are nice and I want to drive one.
Morgan - I love motorbikes because I fell off one.
Tessa - I like jet skis because they look cool.
Denim - I love motorbikes because they are cool and fast.
Xavier - I like planes because they fly.
Ivy - I like buses because they are big.
Oakley - I like trains because when I was little I saw lots of them.
Polly - I like planes because you get to see the clouds.
Zara - I like bikes because they are fun to ride.
