Hello from 6E

We’ve been having an absolute blast in the classroom this term and have been working through an enormous workload with ease and excitement. The children have really embraced our classroom motto: “We’re all in it together, and no one gets left behind.” This has helped create a wonderfully supportive environment where students consistently encourage and assist one another. I’ve been incredibly proud to witness the positive culture they’ve built together.

This term is particularly exciting! Our topic on the Australian Gold Rush has the children captivated, and we’re thoroughly enjoying the novel The Night They Stormed Eureka. While it’s a complex text, it serves as an excellent model and is driving academic growth. The students are fascinated by the societal differences between the 1850s and today.

Our stop-motion animation project, which ties into this unit, has sparked a fresh wave of excitement in the classroom as it’s now underway. And in just two weeks, we’ll be heading off on our Grade 6 camp! We’re all eagerly looking forward to visiting Sovereign Hill and deepening our understanding through firsthand experience.

Speaking of exciting events, we’ve also begun our musical preparations. Many students have been fortunate to secure speaking roles and have already started practising their scripts. We’ve learned our opening song and dance—though we still need to polish our performance! The students' participation and enthusiasm are evident, and they’re loving the cha-cha-chance to dance!

We can’t wait for the second half of Term 2, with even more exciting activities ahead, including Winter Sports, Camp Quality, senior girls’ footy, Performing Arts Night, and more.
